Agenda 5: Discussion on Establishment of APTA CCI

The Standing Committee appreciated the leadership role played by Sri Lanka in this matter and decided in principle to approve the establishment of APTA CCI.

:

1. The Standing Committee will recommend that the Ministers approve the establishment of APTA CCI and amend the Ministerial Declaration accordingly
2. Sri Lanka will become the first Chair of APTA CCI

Historical Significance

The Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement Chamber of Commerce and Industry (APTACCI) was established with approval from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) at its 50th session, declared through a Ministerial-level declaration by the APTA Ministerial Council, with seven national chambers of commerce as founding members.
